Sony W5500

Post by ha100 »

Hi Eugene,

Wonderful software you've created. I've switched from PS3 mediaserver to your server. Much more potential, settings and support.
I have a request: PS3 Mediaserver has a fast forward feature to go 30 seconds or so forward on the movie time line with the arrow up button on the remote (the round button with four arrows) for my W5500. The down button goes 30 seconds back. Do you think you can implement this? Would be very nice for me.

Settings-Trancoder-Codecs, frame - File format: try setting MPEGTS (MPEG Transport Stream), users reported that it helps with the rewinding.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try that. However it's not exactly what I mean. This is some info on what I mean:

Bravia has four arrow buttons to change position: left/right – to fast forward/reverse and up/down – to moving cursor and set time position (something like goto).
If DLNA.ORG_OP=11, then left/rght keys uses range header, and up/down uses TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header
If DLNA.ORG_OP=10, then left/rght and up/down keys uses TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header
If DLNA.ORG_OP=01, then left/rght keys uses range header, and up/down keys are disabled
and if DLNA.ORG_OP=00, then all keys are disabled
So, Range header is used to fast forward/reverse, but sometimes it is very slow. TimeSeekRange.DLNA.ORG header doesn’t work with directly steramed video files (PMS returns movie from beginning):

This is from the PS3 Mediaserver forum thread: http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtop ... RG_OP%3D11. Maybe you can look into that.

Some other things:
- internet tv with vlc works but some url's work on PS3 but not on Sony W5500. I have put in "ps" in the profile.
- Youtube video's seem to quit unexpectedly before they finish.

Settings-Device-Positioning media resources (DLNA) or Settings-Media-Resources-File Types - select file extension - Edit -
Positioning media resources (DLNA). If you are using individual device settings, the changes must be done in them.

Great Eugene. That's excactly what I wanted with the Bravia remote. Had not tried that setting yet. Works great. No return to the beginning of the movie with avchd files as PS3 server does. Wild media server is getting better an better in my view.

This with internet tv is a strange thing. When test transcoding it gives an error: [0x278195c] nsv demux error: invalid signature 0xc73c3cb1 (?<<?)
It does play fine on PS3 but not on Bravia W5500. Transcode file does not play with usb on tv. It does on PS3. So that's the problem then. Tried different transcode profiles, no go. It's the "RTVTelevision 80s 90s Top Hits" from Shoutcast tv (http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-tv ... ?id=175658

Also "MPeg transport stream" screws up the Youtube videos image on W5500 but not on PS3. Bravia W5500 is so much pickier with file formats. With mpeg (dvd) and chunked tranport mode Youtube plays fine on W5500 but.. when played ones and playing a second time it says: cannot play

Any settings I can try?

I think that it is necessary to use the transcoding profile "Internet-television", if the settings set the file format MPEG (DVD), then change transcoding profile (Settings-Transcoder-Profiles-"Internet-television"-Edit) mpeg1 replace ps. When transcoding test to make sure that vlc is called with the correct parameters.

If the version is 0.72, then upgrade to 0.72.2, for Youtube have the changes in 0.72.1.
