SONY BRAVIA 40W5710 movie playback problem

Post by wild4WMS »

Firstly congrats on putting together the best DLNA server available (I have laboured thru all the others to try)

I have perfect Photos,Music and large avi/divx movie files work fine, my only remaining problem is with
digital camera avi movie clips (various cameras) that after a short time (5 to 60 secs) stop with a Sony message 'playback not available'. I noticed that there does not seem to be any residue left in the temp file folder from this type of movie file (unlike all the others)?

My set up of vers.72 is pretty much as default settings using Sony TV NTSC (DLNA, 16:9, 720x406) which works fine here in u.k 'PAL' land by the way --I feel that I should be setting something in the
'Reg. files of media resources' section , but I confess that I dont know what :(

any help/suggestions would be much appreciated

On the right-button mouse "in the list of films you can perform a test transcoding, if transcoding speed (parameter fps) is less frame rate, then the viewing may be a problem.

Thanks Eugene ...I test transcoded a typical digcamera movie of 1.5 mins 12 fps, the transcode rate was 77 fps it seemed to take about 30 secs to transcode -but the Sony still drops into 'playback not available' typically at about 90% of the movie total time.-similar results from various movie clips.I also tried selecting playback from the Sony 'transcode' folder same result--but as I said full sized movies play fine--weird.

I copying the trancoded test file into my movie list folder and it played o.k--so there is a kind of work around.
I have attached the test script--i'm probably doing something stupid -any ideas would be welcome.
thanks again. cb

Settings-Device - turn on "Chunked Transfer Mode" or set value "Close connections after transferring transcoding file through"

FIXED!!
Many thanks Eugene ,the 'chunked transfer mode' option fixed the problem.
I would appreciate knowing what 'chunking ' is, hopefully somebody will write a nice manual eventually explaining all the various options and parameters of this excellent server,
meanwhile everything works and this thread is closed for me- cb

Chunked mode is used for a more correct transfer data indeterminate length.
