Bravia Z51000

Post by lcdata »

I just can't make this work. I tried a few Sony (DLNA) configurations but my tv just doesn't see the server. Is there a step by step guide (for dummies like myself) that would help me troubleshoot the problem? Does WMS even work with Sony Z series?

Thanks a lot.

Little bit more information. I tried all these in various combinations of DLNA 1.0, 1.5, Web etc
Sony TV (DLNA, 16:9, 1280x720)
Sony TV (DLNA, 16:9, 1920x1080)
Sony TV NTSC (DLNA, 16:9, 720x406)

Nothing works. What puzzles me is that I also can't access the server from the local machine on given port (tried 2000, for example). Neither http://localhost:2000 nor http://192.168.1.1:2000 work. Obviously, I checked off Web in Device settings.

NB: I'm running W2K server and firewall is disabled. Regular Web server, runs on port 80, and responds as expected. The server was also rebooted after the installation; though it didn't seem necessary, I did it anyway.

Any idea what might be the problem? Any idea what I should be looking for, at least?

Thanks.

I guess I missed that I should create a list of allowed devices. Did that too and tried with those 3 Sony TV types. Still nothing. I'm pretty sure the problem is the fact that I can't access the server via browser, for whatever reason. I'm baffled. Not a clue what else I should look for.

Sorry about this tirade; just trying to get this thing going.

Device configuration "Sony TV NTSC (DLNA, 16:9, 720x406)"

I think that the problem in rules program of network security for wms.exe or wmssvc.exe. (UDP 1900 IN/OUT) (TCP ServerPort IN). Page presentation should be available always.

Just installed the server on my laptop (Vista) - it works like a swiss cookoo clock. On 2003 server, won't work no matter what I do.
I'm not sure what you mean by "network security for wms.exe". Where would I check and/or change that? Do you mean service Log On User? I tried that too; had it start with Administrator's account - still nothing.

Actually, I don't think WMS starts at all when it's not running as service. Clicking on Start only show Start Server in log but Start button remains enabled while Stop and Restart buttons are disabled. Maybe this is where the root of the problem is. What do you think?

Thanks a lot.

Mystery solved. I remembered someone else reported the same problem so I ran the recommended update to 0.72.2. The server is finally showing on my tv. I can list and play movies but I'm not getting any sound. In fact, my tv sound continues. Any idea what's this all about?

Thanks.
