a couple pre-sales issues

Post by johnnyzero »

WMS looks great, and it seems like it will do everything I need to do. Even though the licensing model is a little weird & restrictive, I probably will end up purchasing it. However, I've got a few questions/issues that I need to address before I decide to take the plunge.

1) My client device is a WDTV Live Plus. Annoyingly, it will always display all 3 WMS media library top-level folders (Movies, Music, Photo). I'd like to configure it so that it will show only the Movies folder when I'm browsing for a video on the WDTV, show only the Music folder when I'm browsing music, etc.

Is it possible that I need to edit the WDTVLive.cfg file to accomplish this? Maybe the Plus handles DLNA folder hierarchy differently than the original WDTV Live? Or maybe it's a hard-coded limitation of the Plus with no workaround...

2) I successfully configured a few Internet Radio streams and it works great. However, the stream title will variously appear with either a (?) or (+) in front of it - (?)WXYZ or (+)WXYZ. I suspect this is displaying something about the status/availability of the stream, so I tried enabling/disabling "Check the Availibility of Internet Resources" - no effect.

This is admittedly a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

"Check the availability of Internet Resources" with specified Interval. It can be a lengthy process. Maybe useful: Select links - right click - "Check availability"

Thanks, Eugene.

Editing the XML file to "impersonate" TVersity did the trick. The folders are now displayed correctly on my WDTV Live Plus - perfect. For the sake of other WDTV Live users, perhaps in a future version you could hard-code this functionality (if device=WDTV Live, then impersonate TVersity or Microsoft). At the very least, perhaps you could make available a script that would automatically make the necessary edits to the XML file.

Regarding the issue of (?) or (+) always being appended to the Internet Radio stream titles, I guess I'm really asking how to disable this altogether. I don't mean to nit-pick, but having the title displayed as "(?)WABC" on my device is a little annoying. Is there any way to disable it by editing a configuration file or something? If not, perhaps in the next version you could add an option for it; "Display Internet Resource availability next to title" or whatever?

Thanks again for your assistance. I can see from the forums that you provide prompt & excellent support for your product. I'm definitely going to be purchasing a license.

best,

WDTV Live can display resources of all types, regardless of the section. I doubt that this must be done.

Perhaps in future versions
