Slow transcoding

Post by tfb »

Hi there

I seem to be having a problem with quite a few 1080p films on my Sony TV. This shows itself as stuttering, which can be cured for a short while by pausing the film, making a cup of coffee and then watching another 15mins before it starts stuttering again.

During watching no other major applications are running on the PC, the processor is a Core i7 950 and by running performance monitor while streaming a film or doing a test transcoding the processor is barely ticking over at 15-20% load yet the fps is about 22.

See attached screen shot of a test transcoding

Does anyone one have any ideas as to what I can do get the transcode fps up?

regards

Try the transcoding profile "Movies - CoreAVC" (he can use "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder")

Make sure that your Power Plan is set to "Maximum Performance"!
