WMV9 codec?

Is it possible to transcode with WMV9 instead of WMV8?

I have an Archos Internet Media Tablet 7. AVI/DIVX streams to it no problem with Wild Media Server. When I copy my .wmv file to the archos it plays fine. When I stream it, it transcodes to mpeg2 which I have to purchase a plugin to work on archos.

I've read your forums how to NOT transcode files, simply stream them. None of those seem to work for me and it still transcodes. So, if I could at least choose a WMV9 codec to transcode with, it should work for me.

Thank you for the suggestion. No luck, it still says file damaged or incomplete. I used the profile you suggested directly on the wmv file. Also tried it in settings/transcoder.

Any proven setting to prevent transcoding? The ones I've found in the forum don't seem to work.

Sorry here's some more info if it helps...

I notice when i go back to the context menu transcoding profile on the file itself it never seems to change from Movies (primary). Perhaps it isn't saving my change to directshow wmv? Also just wanted to mention that I am restarting server each time.
