Permanently stored transcode files

Post by markn62 »

Is it possible for WMS to transcode on request to play video file then permanently store the transcoded temp file so whenever the video was again called on to play it would reference the transcoded temp file and use it again? This would be helpful because the 720p content transcodes at 20 fps, so I have to manually pause for about 25% of the video length then resume to avoid disruption. I would like to only have to pause the first time a video is watched.

If it's possible, what WMS settings are required?

Thanks for the info CMK. Eugene, I read that post you linked but didn't notice it suggest a method to pre-transcode and then playback as part of video library. Almost prefer this method over my earlier goal to autosave if they could be converted as a batch job. I tried using pre-transcode file and pre-transcode list and neither seem to do several transcodings in a series. I highlighted the files I wanted transcoded and WMS apparently doesn't consider this a list.

Any idea how several files could be selected and pre-transcoded in one step?
