New user of WMS... need help

Post by munichman »

I just downloaded the trial and really like the product, but it is just not clear on how to setup everything.

I have my movies scanned from 2 different locations: my local TEMP folder, and my network drive where I keep most of my videos.

I want WMS, upon scanning the movies to be able to do the following... and I know it can, because of the nice script engine that it has...

1) Rename my folders to be "clean" with just the movie name
2) Rename my movie files so they are also "clean"
3) Lookup the movie name from IMDB to get the Actors, Directors, Rating, etc for the purpose of organizing.
4) If possible, download a trailer video and store it in the same movie folder.

I see articles on these forums about using YAMM and stuff, but that is not working for me it seems. I just think we shouldn't need any of that. It should be a script in WMS so it can be done within the same program. It is a scripting engine after-all and should be able to do all of this. Right?

At the moment my trial period has expired so I am looking to see if I want to buy this product.

Thanks so much for your help in advance,
John

Is there anyone that can help me with this please? Perhaps the author of the software? I have not received any response.

I explained it all in my initial post in this thread, but no one replied to help.

Yes, if you have programming experience, this can be done using scripts.

Ok, but I really wanted to know if a script already exists with the product that can (while scanning my folders) lookup the extra movie info from IMDB website and generate the proper info for actors, directors, etc? Do I need to write that script too?

I saw some post on here where a guy wanted the script converted to use IMDB.de, so I thought there must be an existing script for IMDB.com. Right?

Thanks

Sorry, I still do not understand where that is in the program. Can you provide more info?

Ok, I just found that in the program. However, I have to click on a specific movie file and right-click for "Edit information", and then I select the IMDB button and then I run IMDB with keywords, then in the browser window I click on the link for the movie in the IMDB website. Then I can finally click the button on the left called "Load information". It picks up the info great. Then I click OK, and the information is updated for that single movie file.

However, I want to have this automated using your WMS software. How do I do that? I cannot figure out how to do automate this.

Also note that after I updated a couple movies manually, I went back to my "Actors" list and there still was nothing listed there. Shouldn't it get updated with the actors from the 2 movies I just updated? How do I fix this?

Is all of this stuff documented anywhere? Am I missing a manual? It would be saving me a lot of time if this stuff was documented.

Thanks.
