Some bugs

Post by k10ck3r »

Found two issues:

1) If I select "Restart Server", the entire database is dumped and I have to rescan all media. Note that this does not happen if I select "Stop Server", then "Start Server".

2) New music files seem to be picked up fine, but new video files seem to have issues. They show up in the WMS application running on the server, so the program seems to detect them ok, but they don't show up on my media device unless I restart WMS. I tried power-cycling the device thinking that perhaps it was caching the directory contents, but nothing got it to work other than restarting the WMS server.

Note: This is with the latest 1.0 release on Win7 32. My devices is the LG BD570.

You click Restart and what happened after ?

In folder Service - Media Database - "Refresh Info" does not solve the problem?

Ok, did some more testing. When the server is first started, the files are detected just fine (configured to auto detect based on file system changes).

Once the server has run for a few days, it starts to misbehave. I have seen two types of odd behavior: 1) new files are not detected, 2) Media device says there is no content (get an empty message).

Both issues are resolved if I then manually stop, then restart the server.

For the other reported issue (restart server results in the server dumping the database), I mean that the media device gets an empty message AND that the WMS server itself says that there is no content. To fix this, I have to rescan the media folders.

Hope this helps track it down. Thanks.

I can correct the problem only if it is reproducible. This requires a clear sequence of actions.

ok, I'll keep an eye on it and see if I can characterize it a little better.

No new info yet on the other reported issues, but I found a new one.

- Reloading MP3 data from file doesn't update the genre. (In this case, I had updated a bunch of files externally using MP3Tag, then wanted WMS to update with the changes. I went into the music file listings in WMS and tried to reload info from file. It didn't update the genre, so I had to manually change it in WMS).

This is a normal mode of operation, information is loaded, if the field is not filled. On right click of the mouse you can delete the file from the list, run the scanning.
