Ready for Standby ???

Post by adgen »

Hello,

right now I'm configurating an private media server with Window Server 2008 R2 OS. My plan is to shutdown the server after a ore-defined amount of time. This works well so far, as long as I do not start WMS. When this program is running it seems to be keep the PC awake. Even if I start WMS as an Serviceof Windows.

Is it possible, that WMS is resetting an Windows internal timer, so the PC never will be sleep or shutdown? Is there way to avoid this behavior?

Anyway I have to say: Great peace of SW. Keep on.. I'm really looking forward, which features were include in the future... :)

Bye

Yes, the server prevents sleep.

Stop server, Suspend computer through server (Folder Service), configuration Settings-Service.

You mean I have to stop the WMS via Folder controls on Client side?

I need my PCs to sleep. The server should not keep PCs awake unless the user wants it to.

The TV I am using, the Sony KDS-32EX308 will send a wake on lan magic packet to a device that is asleep. So I just have to click on the WMS icon on the TV and wait a few seconds for the PC to wake up, then go back to the WMS icon.

Can the option to turn this feature on or off be added to the server?
