Nice! This was the problem with my files as well! To change the file date modified date from command line in Windows Vista you can type:

copy /b your_movie.mkv +,,

You can upload an example of a problem file to rapidshare.com and specify the time of the problem? The resulting and original files are waaaaaay too big to be uploaded anywhere. Sound goes demonic after playing video for some time

After playing some videos the sound of them goes demonic (usually right after scene changes). If I replay the same file that has been saved by WMS for pre-transcoding the same happens. If I replay the original file with Media Player Classic Home Cinema there is no problem.

Nope. Could you tell me where Wild Media Server saves the index so I can try to manually delete it and let WMS recreate it from scratch?

I ran the test and it lists all the files in the directory, including the .mkv video file.
