Many thanks Eugene ,the 'chunked transfer mode' option fixed the problem.
I would appreciate knowing what 'chunking ' is, hopefully somebody will write a nice manual eventually explaining all the various options and parameters of this excellent server,

Thanks Eugene ...I test transcoded a typical digcamera movie of 1.5 mins 12 fps, the transcode rate was 77 fps it seemed to take about 30 secs to transcode -but the Sony still drops into 'playback not available' typically at about 90% of the movie total time.-similar results from various movie clips ...
