Hello,
I have WMS running for a few days now. I think I have catched most issues so far, but one starts to annoy me.
I have been testing to run the JLC script on this board to get the free internet TV channels. Have been testing these once and it seems only a few are working through WMS. I have been testing a few non working TV channels with WMP 12 and many are working and the channels were not offline. Some problematic channels were solved after setting the flash movie before in settings (although I had no more sound then).
Why these are not running through WMS I do not know yet, still playing with it. Is there a suggestion how to test those channels? Because setting transcoding options through the TV interface did not seem to make any difference.
Since 2 days I have not been playing with the internet channels and now I notice that in the morning I have two or more popups from Windows waiting for me, saying VLC has stopped working. There were no transcoders running anymore, nobody touched the TV or the PC. When I check the task list I can see several "conhost" tasks and several VLC tasks running. I don't know why these are active?
Any ideas why WMS is starting VLC by itself and what might be causing VLC to stop working?
Thanks for any ideas,
Wim

Re: VLC stops over and over
Eugene,
Thanks for your quick response!
I checked the option in settings and it was set to on on. I gues I did this while playing around learning the program.
I have set it to off now, hoping this ends the VLC messages. This scanning is setting the +/-/? marks in the channels I guess? So one might want to run it every now and then to filter good and bad channels I guess. What thoes the "?" stand for after scanning? Did this have a slow connection maybe?
How could I set correct settings for those channels that are available through Windows Media Player, but not playing in WMS?
I think thos channels are mostly the mms:// links and the asx streams. What could be the right setting for thos?
Thanks,
Wim

Re: VLC stops over and over
I did not have a problem with VLC stopping, but did have the situation that I would find multiple VLC processes open in task manager every day. I isolated it to WMS and saw that even if I had not used WMS or VLC in the preceding day, I would have open processes each day (usually four). After seeing this thread, I deselected the Activate choice under Check the availability of Internet resources and have no longer had the problem.
