Right - think I've got somewhere.
It isn't the server nor the software nor any sort of firewall.
My other computers can pick up the service just fine without issues. It's the BDP that can't find the server.
I can ping the BDP as I've mentioned before, but I just can't search for it using WMS nor can I find WMS when searching from the BDP.

I'm having a very similar issue to this.
Only difference is that I'm trying to connect to a WD Live device.
I think its an issue with the router for me but am going to try and open the ports suggested by Eugene.
Its weird that I can see it sometimes when I search for clients then other times nothing.
Then I'll get it connected but if I switch it off and on again without changing any settings I then lose connection.
Some people on other forums reckon its an issue with how the router I have (BT Home Hub 2) and how it deals with UPnP
Will get to the bottom of this eventually.
