Strange Behaviour with MKV [V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC]

Post by brettich »

I have a series of good quality mkv's that play just fine over a CIFS share. But as soon as I try to stream them my media player reports an incorrect file size, stalls, and cannot FF or RW.

I have WMS installed on a WHS, using a WDTV Live for playback.
As I said, on my PC or on the WDTV Live over a CIFS share playback is perfect.
But streaming over WMS (no transcoding) playback is poor.

I think the problem may be with the encoding, the movies use: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
Here is the output from MediaInfo:

-Any suggestions?
Do I need to remux or re-encode the movies? I do not want to transcode with WMS...

WMS is a server, not the player. If you do not use transcoding, there is no reason for a poor quality, only better (transfer speed).

I fully understand that WMS is the server.
What I tried to say: The movie I posted the Mediainfo from, plays BETTER if it is not served over WMS

For some reason this movie and (two others encoded just like it) play better from a share than from the WMS.

All my other moves play (via WMS) perfectly :D
Since I want all my movies served by WMS, I though you might be interested in a possible "bug" with this particular format?

Thanks,

BR

You have enabled showing the transcoding panel ?
