hi,
it would be nixe to have a search field or something like that. (on the client device menu)
i have about 60 vids and more mp3s in one folder - searching for part of the name of a file would help not klicking throu the whole menu.
Improvement: search

In the device there is a possibility of search of a media content?
The server supports search which is described in the UPnP-standard, but in devices of this search usually is not present.
If search in the device is also it is supported by any server the given possibility it will be possible to realise and in WMS.
In the setting of the server can turn on the grouping in the folder "Watch folders" The choice of content via the folder "Watch folders"

Re: Improvement: search
this function seams to have no effect at all...
but if i get it rigth it is only a grouping...
but i suggested a real search funktion..
a fild you can type a string and getting a list of matching vids/mp3s..
(typing a string is possible with the number buttons - like on a handy)

Re: Improvement: search
I'm not sure that the device sends a request to the server when typing a string.DEvil HUnter wrote:this function seams to have no effect at all...

Please describe your sequence of actions:DEvil HUnter wrote:i'have seen this in an other upnp av server app menu (the menu displayed on the tv)..
1. You click the Search button on the remote
2. Appears field to enter a search string
3. You type the search string
4. Press the button start search
Right?
If correct, then what happens when you use WMS for step 4?

Re: Improvement: search
1. i click the search "folder" in the menu shown on the tv screen... it is not a special button or something on the remote...
2. get a field to enter string
3. entering string (pressing button '2' three times is 'c' and so on)
4. press button ok on remote -> search button in tv menu
5. getting results in normal folder view
in wms is no such search "folder" in the menu on the tv screen so i can't do this action there..
seen it with the pinncale media server...

Re: Improvement: search
hmm - ok - thought it uses upnp...
but maybe you can implement a search the way you implemented the server restart thing.. or the transcoding condig change menu...
i'm very new to upnp so i realy have nearly no idea what is possible and what is not...

Re: Improvement: search
If the device can not do 1-4, then quickly find the resources through a folder of media resources. Entering search string through the folder is inconvenient for the user.DEvil HUnter wrote:hmm - ok - thought it uses upnp...
