Using NAS drive to store content. WMS scans shares using path and content is selectable on the menu of the DirecTv HR23-700 DVR. However, non-transcoded MP3's or even JPG's won't play or display. HR23 reports "unable to access media". Will only play content on the host PC's drive. All temp, transcode and buffers are still pointing to local drive folders.
What gives?
NAS drive
Re: NAS drive
Files are played on DirecTv HR23-700 DVR via USB ?markn62 wrote:Using NAS drive to store content. WMS scans shares using path and content is selectable on the menu of the DirecTv HR23-700 DVR. Hmmm, am I the only one doing this?

Re: NAS drive
Interesting. Looking for setup differences I'm using XP pro. On the NAS I have CIFS access enabled and NFS access disabled. I'm using user based access control (UBAC) rather than PBAC. When playing MP3's, all songs within the folder are quickly cycled through as the system realizes it cannot access the files. Once all the songs are cycled through it drops me back to the server menu.
Read somewhere that the share has to have full access SYSTEMS permissions and I would guess NETWORK ACESS read at a minimum. However this can't be set on a mapped NAS drive. I do have the NAS setup as full access so I presume the host PC running WMS doesn't need permissions set on the mapped drive or any of its folders. Dan, is this how you run your Dlink?
Not sure where else to look.
