Inconsistent Results...
First off, thank you for the nice product. Best results so far of the many Media Server software I've tried. I seem to be having inconsistent results when trying to access my media via a web browser. Sometimes I get an error message that the server refused the connection, sometimes it is OK, then sometimes I see only a WMS main page with no links to my folders and media. Also, is there any quick tip info on getting a Nintendo DSi to play music or a Wii to watch movies. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.

If you use DHCP for ip-configuration, try using a static ip-configuration.jaha wrote:First off, thank you for the nice product. Best results so far of the many Media Server software I've tried. Re: Inconsistent Results...
Thanks for the reply. I do use DHCP with a reservation for the WDTVlive. I am using .72 version of WMS, and still like what I see. When watching MKV movies via WirelessN, the movie will stop after approx. 20 minutes, the WDTVlive says there was an error connecting to the network. I will navigate back to the "Video" of the WDTVlive, wait about a minute, then go back to "media Servers", pick the movie again, and it will resume from where it left off. After about 20 minutes, it repeats itself. Annoying. Any suggestions. I will attempt to upgrade to .73 tonight. Thanks again for a great product.

I think the problem is with WiFi. If possible try using a wired link, at least temporarily.jaha wrote:Thanks for the reply. I do use DHCP with a reservation for the WDTVlive. Re: Inconsistent Results...
If it helps, it seems to happen after 30 (give or take a few) minutes without fail. Files are MKV. The wireless N connection is still present when it happens, and I can get back to the movie and resume usually within 30 seconds. Migt very well be a Wirelss N problem, but it seems very curious that it happens in 30 minute intervals. .73 had no effect.

It is easy to check, simply connect the device and the computer wire.jaha wrote:If it helps, it seems to happen after 30 (give or take a few) minutes without fail. Files are MKV. Re: Inconsistent Results...
I tried to play 3 different MKV (720 and 1080) movies with the WDTV Live using the "Network Shares" instead of Media Servers, over the same Wirelss N connection. They all played flawlessly with out the 30 minute "hiccup". Again, the fishy part is the 30 minute interval between dropped connections when using the WDTV live and WMS over Wirelss N.
Re: Inconsistent Results...
Sometimes it helps to turn off UPnP on the router
Re: Inconsistent Results...
Turned of uPNP on the router, rebooted all, no change. Played same movies over wireless N, same TV, same WDTV live, using network shares instead of WMS, no crash after 30 minutes. Only happens with WMS, Wireless N, after exactly 30 minutes. Is there some logging or something similar I could turn on to see what is going on WMS side during the 30 minute "hiccup"?
Re: Inconsistent Results...
Every 14 minutes server sends the UPnP-message that he is in the network, the lifetime of this message 30 minutes. If the server receives a UPnP-message about searching media servers, then the lifetime of the server response 30 minutes. I think the problem with the passage of 14-minute messages. Check your firewall program. Debug log (Settings-Additional)jaha wrote:Turned of uPNP on the router, rebooted all, no change.
