Samsung DLNA client doesn't work with internet TV streams?

I've been testing several media servers with a new Samsung BD-C5500 Blu Ray player, including most recently Wild Media Server. For the most part they all work fine with local media files, and Wild Media Server seems to be one of the better ones in terms of providing flexible transcoding and some remote control of the server via fake folders in the DLNA interface. However it's no more successful than PlayOn at serving internet TV streams to the Samsung DLNA client. In both cases the Samsung client times out long before the stream starts, due to typical internet delays and slow remote servers. In that case the spurious error message "Unsupported format" appears from the Samsung client, but in this context it really means "timeout". PlayOn can be made to work sometimes by immediately re-trying the stream, but I can't get that trick to work with Wild Media Server. This is partly a fault in the design of the Samsung DLNA client, which wasn't designed to tolerate the kind of delays associated with internet TV sources, but I was hoping that one of the media servers would have found a way to make it work.
