Does WMS support CIFS/SMB file sharing?

Hi,

The reason I ask is that I'm about to go and buy the Sonos multi room system.

I have a Windows Server 2003 acting as a file server in a domain and I would like to stream music from it

I have decided the Sonos system is great for me but since Sonos doesn't support uPnP servers (and Windows Server 2003 doesn't support it either...) I sent a request to Sonos how to solve this. They wrote back,
"Thank you for contacting Sonos Support. In order to be compatible with Sonos, a NAS drive must support CIFS / SMB file sharing protocol. Almost all off-the-shelf NAS drives fully support this protocol but there are some drives that are incompatible. The only two UPNP servers that Sonos Supports is Windows Media Player UPNP server and through Rhapsody. I can make a feature request for more UPNP server support. So does this Wild Media Server support CIFS/SMB file sharing?"

I'm not that technical...
I know I have Windows Server 2003 and I know I installed WMS (currently in trial period).

If I go and buy the Sonos system, will that system be able to read my music files on the server?
(Either directly or through WMS)

Thanks for a great and promising app.!

Hi,

CIFS/SMB file sharing is a standard feature of Windows.

ok, thanks I underatnd that now but the question was if WMS support this protocol ?

I would hate myself buying equipment for EUR1000 just to find out it doesn't work

Thanks

WMS is not the CIFS/SMB file sharing server.
