Problem with playback of .avi files on Toshiba 40XV733

Hi guys,

first of all I have to express, that you have created an incredible piece of software :!:

My problem is as following:

Today, my new Toshiba 40XV733 was delivered. It took me about 15 minutes to set up Wild Media Server and connect to the LCD. I am able to browse the shared resources and I can play .vob files without problems in a great quality. :) However, most of my library consists af .avi files, that I would like to view on the new screen.
When I enter the file browser on the TV, it's obviously listing the .avi movies correctly but it shows up a duration of 0:00. If I try to play the movie, the message "error on media playback" (this is my translation from German language) is shown.

I already added .avi to the embedded file formats but this didnt change anything. Currently I am using the media device profile "Sony TV (DLNA, 16:9, 1920x1080)" but these problems occur with other profiles, too.

I really would like to license Wild Media Server, but without the capability of streaming .avi files, it's almost useless for me.

Thanks in advance,

enerkis

Edit:

I now figured out, that these playback problems occur also on .mpg files (but movie duration is shown up correctly).
Furthermore, I have done the transcoding test on on of the .avi files. This is the output of command prompt:

"D:\Bild + Video\Wild Media Server\wmsmpeg.exe" -i "R:\Filme\test.avi" -f dvd -vcodec mpeg2video -b 8000000 -aspect 16:9 -copyts -pix

Try to choose a device type "Default device (without DLNA, 16:9, 720x406)" and check the playback via the folder Transcoding

Great! Using the folder "Transcoding", I am able to watch .avi and .mpg files now! :) I always tried to play the movies via the folder "Movies" --> "Watch folders". The playback via "Transcoding" works even with the Sony 1920x profile. Does this mean, the TV is not able to natively playback .avi and .mpg files? What is the difference between the Device Settings in the main menu and the settings under "Server" --> "Client Devices"? Does the Device Settings in main override the other?

And is there any quality loss or difference between the default profile and the Sony profile (especially when watching 1080p movies)? The TV is DLNA certified.

Thank you very much!

I think that the list of supported file formats is better to look in the user manual.
If for the device defined individual settings, then they are used.
In the default configuration uses a smaller frame size and lower video bitrate, for HD-content quality transcoded content can be significantly lower.
