Live/Buffalo NAS question

Post by cygnus7 »

Before I get into the problem, here is my setup:

WMS Host computer = Installed as a service in Windows 7 with all firewall's disabled with a hard coded IP installed on VMWARE guest OS
Buffalo NAS = Movie share has no security and unit is hardwired to the network with a hardcoded IP
WDTV Live = DHCP, hardwired to the network

So my problem is that the WDTV Live keeps loosing connection to the media server, or so I think. I set up WMS, I pulled off all the firewalls my live can see the server fine, and i can go into the server from the live and see all my thumbnails no problem play a movie and all is well.

then, a few hours later i go to watch another movie and bam, i see all the directories, but no thumbnails, then when i go into it to play the MKV file or transcoding folder, i get this media not supported. I restart services, run a scan, sometimes it works again, other times it doesnt. As i write this post, all i had to do was re-boot the server and it started working again.

Has anyone experienced this before?
