Hello Readers,

It's still about the aspect ratio issues with Sony models.

I've been using for several months this great soft in using 4:3 aspect ratio screen (Transcoder - Framesize) into watch with a proper ratio the movies on my Sony 40HX700.

Now I just upgraded it in 1.07 and the isn't possible anymore to "cheat" and get a transcoding aspect ratio output into 4:3.

So I'm back to the previous situation whith a "squeezed image on screen".

I've almost tried everything, without any success.

My father has an Sony 40NX700. And it's the same problem...

I'm thinking about re-get the previous 1.05 version into fix this.

Thanks for any helps or similare experiences!

Another question: is there anyone working on a French translation ?

Try to copy ffmpeg-1.dll from version 1.05 or change the frame size

Make sample with aspect 16:9, check playback via USB, send to Sony support.

I have the same problems again and I always thought it was a bug Sony introduced after the last firmware update.
Gonna try the older ffmpeg now.

Eugene, thank you for your response. Does this mean if I play a 16:9 aspect video hooked into the USB port of the TV I'll also see screwed up aspect ratios and I should report this to Sony as a bug on their end? I did try the old ffmpeg and it does indeed fix my problem. Your response sounds like this is possibly due to Sony screwing up. Is this correct? Thanks again.
This problem is only on Sony TVs 2010, using a 4:3 aspect it is still the wrong way.
Perhaps this is a problem of transcoder, so it's best to explore this issue, using different converters in the same frame size and the same video encoding.

Another solution, might be to work

Settings - Transcoder - Profiles - Movies (primary) - Edit - Transcoding parameters - right click - "Select All" - Delete

Code: Select all

IfThen(mpInternetItem,
   WmsTranscodingProfileParams('Internet-television'),
   IfThen(mpSubItemsCount > 0,
      WmsTranscodingDvdParams,
      WmsTranscodingInputParams + WmsTranscodingVideoParams + ' -vf "aspect=4:3"' +
      WmsTranscodingMapParams(mpAudioStreamNo)))
Ok-Ok-Ok

sysrage wrote:That worked! With the newer ffmpeg and these settings, videos seem to be in the correct aspect ratio. Do you mind explaining what exactly this is doing? Is this forcing 4:3 for every video?
Thanks for information. Yes, use new features of transcoder for set aspect ratio 4:3, the old, unfortunately, does not work.
I will try to include a fix to the next version of the transcoder.

I think the original problem in the profile of DLNA, used MPEG_PS_PAL (720x576), may help to change the profile of DLNA in program settings for the mpg-files, but no suitable.
