Support for USB webcam?

Looking at all the featues already built in i think that support for webcams might be possible in future.
Am i right?

If playback is available in VLC, then use the folder Internet-television.

Got it (nearly) working:
Access to webcam is possible in VLC via the dshow:// but there's only a very small picture to see (176x144).
In VLC i can switch the size of the picture to 640x480 via the option input field, but i cannot find any similar in the wild media server.
Is it possible to submit parameters to VLC?
Is anyone out there who tried streaming a webcam to TV? Maybe there`s an example for that...
