DSF / DSD files / SACD Iso files and bit length/bitrate

Hi Eugene.
I've been playing with SACD iso files and DSF downloads.

I notice that the file length when playing back via my Blu Ray > DAC are smaller than I'd expect (50MB for a 5min song)
Are they being converted to another format ie flac before being transferred to my output device?

Can that be changed so they get converted to 24bit rather than the 16bit files I expect they are being transcoded to now?

Thanks
