Vista x64 problem - wmssvc

hi
Great software - i can play my HD files onto my sony 37W5710 TV over my network. However, i have a problem with vista x64.
I can run the software on my xp desktop - it starts quickly, the server connects to my TV and is solid - been running all day. I can play all my files MPG4 and M2TS - however the desktop is quite old and hasnt the power to transcode the HD Mpeg fast enough and only gets 14fps. My high end laptop can transcode the same files at 40+ FPS. However I am having problems getting Vista to talk with the TV.
If i run WMS (including the latest beta version) with default settings/additional/autoload. ie none of the 3 boxes ticked. The software runs up (after a very long time scanning my drives - much longer than the much slower XP machine). The interface then works and i can see all my files etc. But when i select Start server - nothing happens. The grey dialogue box flashes for a second saying "server starting" and the log says "star server" but does not include an IP address. i can repeat this many times and nothing happens.
If i try selecting the 3rd tick box in option in the settings/additional/autoload - "installation windows service" - then try to run start server - the dialogue box opens saying starting server and then the program freezes and i can only get out of it my using task manager and end process. If i reboot with this option selected the program freezes when i try to connect.
If i try just the 2nd option "startup server by starting program" - the program will freeze again and needs task manager to exit
If i try the 1st option "start up program by starting windows session" then the program loads and if i press START server then the programme will freeze for a while, then sometimes after 5 plus minutes go back to the user interface, with the stop and restart button active - but the server will not have connected to the tv and i do not get an IP address in the log window.
If i load it without any of the autoload options selected, then manually start the WMSSVC using cmd prompt WMSSVC /install and then WMSSVC /Start. After about 2 mins i can connect to the TV and watch films etc at good rates. However this is not stable and after a while the server stops and i cannot restart the server without rebooting my pc.
Throughout trying these options i have notices that the WMSSVC service seems to take a long time to start (says starting or stopping for many minutes in the services admin tools window) and if i deselect the Autoload "installation windows service" which seems to select itself once i have had the server working - the WMSSVC says it is marked for deletion and i am unable to get it running again without rebooting.
I think the software is great and would really like to get it working on my vista machine. DO you have any ideas how i can get it running (i have all the other services running that are indentified within this forum). All other settings are identical to my desktop which works fine - except the IP address for the server which is the same standfast the last number - which i would expect.
I hope this makes sense and you can help.
Many thanks
Jim
