If your device understands DTS Audio, why do you transcoding?

The only reason i chose the transcode option is cause i wasn't seeing DTS on either the XMB or my reciever even though i have my audio settings set to Linear PCM rather than Bitstream on my PS3. Should i not see DTS on one or the other during playback which would indicate it is playing DTS?

Thx

Ok, i have one movie - Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. When i play it on my PS3 using PS3 Media Server i get Dolby Digital 5.1 showing up on the info screen of the PS3 that you get by hitting the triangle. When i play the same movie with WMS it shows 2 ch Dolby Digital and it sounds awful... How do i get it the same with WMS? In addition to that i have Valkyrie which is M2TS as well and has DTS, with PS3 Media server i show DTS on the screen of the XMB info with WMS i do not. I assume i am missing an setting or something somewhere.

Yes, it supports DTS, it does not support the new HD ones (DTS-MA and True HD). The movie has DTS 5.1 @ 1509 kbps when i do a properties of the audio file for the movie in WMS.
