VOB playback issues on 42PFL8404H/12

Post by Zolee »

Hi Eugene,

First of all, great software the best I have seen sofar. Especially good the ability to select the soundtrack from the VOB files either by directly selecting from the file list or by the language setting.
I do have a problem with the sound though. It is okay for about 8-10 min, but then it goes out of sync with the video and there are a lot of dropout in the sound. The video also gets a bit jerky. When looking at the transcoding window it shows 26fps on the 25fps video, so the speed should be sufficient.
The other problem is that the sound a bit quiet and thin compared to the non-transcoded playback.

Try turn off the setting "Maximum advance transcoding" - set 0 (Settings-Transcoder-Execute of transcoding).
For transcoding DVD can also use profiles transcoding "Movies (primary) - MENCODER" (need to load this transcoder - Settings-Transcoder-Profiles) or "Movies - TsMuxer - DVD".

I did what you suggested but these profiles are not supported by the tv. I getting "The file cannot be played or found" message on the screen. Isn't it something to do with the fps in the audio track ? Previously I had audio sync problem with an .AVI file, but since I have set the same frame rate as in the video track it works okay. Now I am not sure if it was the cure for the problem, because I did it on the .VOB file as well, but it didn't help.

When you play through the folder Transcoding, you can choose to view with some time positions, with the added parameter sync sound, try it.

I have found a 'frame sync error' message in transcoder log. The message is always there when playing the same file, but not present at every file. I mean, I not getting this sound sync problem at each VOB file. As stated before, the sound is in sync for some time, but then it goes out of sync and the video is also getting jerky. See the message bellow :

OK, I did that, but still can't see how does it fix the sync problem. The only difference I can see is that one cell plays the original english soundtrack while the other hungarian. Apart from this, the jerkiness appears at the same point in the movie. :?

In setting (Settings-Transcoder-Codecs, frame) did not try to choose the frame rate of 24 or 25 ?

Yes I did, but no change. Looks like that my tv doesn't like the AC3 sound, because on some AVI files I getting a strange sync problem (the sound is in advance to the video), but with MP3 selected the sound is in sync. The tv is also often crashes when AC3 selected.
Unfortunetely it doesn't solve the problem on the VOB files.

The problem is solved now. It was one of my router in a bridged configuration unable to handle more than 10Mbit/s over a Wifi connection. I have temporary replaced with another one and viola the jerkiness disappeared. I still need to manage to get a new one though and a more powerful PC to be able play 1080p files smoothly...
