I have to agree with Eugene, in that my own experience on the BDP-S370 has been it does not handle .MKV well. :cry:
It also doesn't handle FLAC audio in an MKV file at all?
I have a 4GB .MKV of Black Sabbath's Paranoid Classic Albums I use to check...

Your suggestion does allow me to play the mkv files wihtout renaming the file extension from .mkv to .avi, listing them as MPEG :D

I take your point RE Wi-Fi vs. Wired, but agree that in this particular case, it appears to be a deficiency of the S370 in playing Full HD ...

I have a BDP-S370, Firmware M03R623, WMS 1.04.7 with Default Device settings for Sony-BDP S370:

I can play .MKV files but :
1) They are recognised as M2TS, is this due to the transcoder for the device settings?.
2)1280x720 H264 AC3 2+ Gig files only play first 8 or so minutes, unless I ...
